New York Jets News & Notes 7/26
July 26th, 2010 by Jets News Poster No comments »1) Douglas signs with the Dolphins- Former Jets defensive end Marques Douglas has signed with the Miami Dolphins. Douglas, who had a very solid 2009 campaign with Gang Green, was rumored to be on the Jets radar as a training camp signing. This move surprises me a little as Douglas was a very consistent player, especially against the run.
2) Mangold will not hold out of training camp- In an interview on the NFL Network, New York Jets All-Pro center Nick Mangold stated that he will not be holding out of training camp. Mangold, who is in the last year of his rookie deal, stated the following:
“It’s just disappointing now where we’re at, but it’s one of those things you go through. I’m a professional. I’ve done everything the right way and I’m going to continue to do that (and) be there for my teammates and coaches. We’ll see how it all plays out.”
This is excellent news for the Jets and now puts the spotlight on Darrelle Revis and his contract situation. The prediction here is that Revis will be in attendance as well, but will definitely share his unhappiness with the HBO cameras.
3) Are the Jets signing Brunell? The Jets were reportedly anxious to sign veteran quarterback Mark Brunell as a mentor for Mark Sanchez. The “final four” restrictions have been lifted, but no signing. Could it be that Gang Green is having a hard time deciding which young quarterback to release? The thinking is that the Jets could try and trade Kellen Clemens, but not sure what type of market there is for the former Oregon gunslinger.
4) Wilson remains unsigned- The New York Jets have one draft pick left unsigned and that is their first rounder Kyle Wilson. Wilson, who is slated to start at the nickel back position, will more than likely wait to for the players in front of him to sign before finalizing his deal.
Training camp begins on August 2nd, for the full schedule see NY Jets 2010 training camp schedule.

Serby: Q&A With Jason Taylor
July 26th, 2010 by Jets News Poster No comments »
Steve Serby of the NY Post has a Q&A with Jason Taylor of the New York Jets. Taylor was asked if he was concerned that some Jets fans will never forgive him for being on the Dolphins.
Q: Are you concerned that some Jets fans will never forgive you for hating them as a Dolphin?
A: You can’t please everybody in life. . . . If they come around, great. If they don’t, well, I’m sorry.
Some words of advice Jason, give the fans a little more time, sign a ton of autographs and sack the quarterback. Often. Repeat these steps as necessary and your popularity in NY will not be an issue.
Another interesting tidbit pertains to the transition that Taylor’s children are making:
Q: How are your children (Isaiah, 7, Mason, 6, and Zoey, 4) adapting from being Dolphin fans to Jets fans?
A: (Isaiah and Mason) couldn’t be happier. Somehow, some way, they became Yankee fans in South Florida. They want to go up there and see some Yankee games. They have Sanchez jerseys already and they talk about (LaDainian Tomlinson).

Ochocinco Trash Talking with New York Jets Players
July 25th, 2010 by Jets News Poster No comments »
Love him or hate him, Chad Ochocinco certainly knows how to drum up drama.
The loquacious Bengals wide receiver engaged in some unexpected trash talk with Antonio Cromartie via twitter this afternoon.
Ochocinco, of course, participated in similar banter with Darrelle Revis late last season and even promised to change his last name back to Johnson if the Jets All-Pro cornerback kept him out of the end zone in Week 17. (The Bengals wideout was held without a catch in two quarters before exiting with a tweaked knee. For the record, he didn’t change his name, either).
