The Jets Offseason Activity, Is Mr. T Doing a Great Job?

Mr. T

Despite being restricted with the final 8 rule, the New York Jets have been very busy with making moves thus far in the offseason.  The Jets made yet another move yesterday by signing free agent linebacker Lance Laury.

PFT: Laury played in all 48 games over the last three seasons in Seattle, mostly on special teams. He recorded 63 tackles and two forced fumbles in kick coverage, with just one tackle on defense.

Mr. T Loves Making Splashes in the Offseason

One thing is for certain is that Mike Tannuabaum LOVES to make splashes with moves in the offseason.  I have had my ear to the ground to see how fans react to the moves and I would say that it is probably split 50/50.  You either love the moves or hate them!  The one move that rubbed people the wrong way was to sign LaDainian Tomlinson for more money than Thomas Jones, who was cut after a career high year in rushing.

Here is the run down of who was signed and who is still a free agent:

Looking at the moves thus far, I’m pretty happy with how Mr. T has been making moves to improve this team.  Looking at the list, I would implore Mike to sign Jay Feely although everything I’ve been reading is telling me he won’t be back with the team.  The guy is a true leader even though he’s “just a kicker”.  Jay is re-inventing how that position is played.

I would also say that the Jets must know something about Leon Washington’s leg, and the gamble they took at tendering him at a 2nd is paying off so far.  There had been rumors that Leon was talking to other teams, but nothing has come out of them.

The only questionable move was to cut Thomas Jones after the great year he had, but remember, TJ is over 30 (so is LT), but I have a theory on why certain players are being let go.

So how do you think Mike Tannebaum is doing so far?  Let us know in the comments section or take the poll!
